The gap

People know roughly what they’ll need.
Far fewer know what they’re on track for.

These are survey averages, not a projection for you. What you’ll actually need depends on your own circumstances, and the value of a pension can fall as well as rise.

Revenue deadline

Contributions for the 2025 tax year close on 31 October.

Pay into a pension before the deadline and you can set it against last year’s tax bill. Miss it and that year is gone for good. If you file your return online, you usually have until mid‑November.

Applies to anyone claiming relief for the 2025 tax year, including AVCs, self-assessed income and company directors.

€100 a month

It could cost you about €60 at the higher rate of tax, or €80 at the standard rate, within Revenue’s age-related limits.

Our story

Father, son, dog.

One idea: a pension should be something you understand, not something you avoid.

Pensionbuddy started as a father-son conversation. Damian has 30 years' experience advising people on pensions, and kept seeing the same thing: people either ignored their pension completely, or only thought about it the day auto-enrolment came into effect.

Adam, freshly out of Trinity, saw the same gap from the other side. Nobody was explaining any of it in a fun and digestible way that actually made sense. So they built Pensionbuddy together.

The goal is simple: get you from “I’ve no idea what’s happening with my pension” to an actual conversation with someone qualified to help.

Damian Condon

I’ve spent thirty years explaining how money can best serve real people. Clarity is the whole point.

After graduating from Maynooth, I moved from Bank of Ireland to Ulster Bank, then to St. George Private Bank in Sydney. I founded Gresham Wealth Management in 2012 and have led it ever since, and I am the Qualified Financial Adviser behind Pensionbuddy.

Thirty years of that work leaves you with one firm opinion: hardly anyone is bad with money. They have just never had it explained to them in words they felt allowed to ask questions about.

Adam Condon

“Nobody out there was explaining any of it in a way that actually made sense. That is the part I wanted to fix.”

Adam graduated from Trinity College Dublin this year with an honours degree in Business, Economics and Social Sciences. He’s bringing a fresh perspective to how pensions get talked about, transforming three decades of his dad’s experience into something people can actually follow, from auto-enrolment to retirement planning.

Adam runs the social and education side of Pensionbuddy, the goal being to educate and remove the fear around pensions.

Buddy

Buddy is a beloved boxer, and the namesake of Pensionbuddy. He is the mascot, and the paw print in the logo is his.

He is also the point, in a way. A pension should feel like something with someone in your corner, and Buddy is the loyal embodiment of that.

Who you are actually dealing with.

Pensionbuddy is a name, not a separate company. The business behind it is Damian Condon T/A Gresham Wealth Management, and that is the business the Central Bank of Ireland regulates. Registered office: Bushfield House, Philipsburgh Avenue, Fairview, Dublin 3.

You can check that for yourself, and you should. The Central Bank publishes its register at registers.centralbank.ie.

This page is information, not advice. Pension and tax rules depend on your circumstances and can change. Regulated financial advice is given in a personal consultation with Damian.

A clear picture of what you already have, what it is likely to be worth at 66, and the one or two things worth doing about it. Written down, so you are not relying on memory a week later.

Is the first chat really free?+

Yes, completely, with no obligation afterwards. Twenty minutes to understand your situation and answer your questions.

What does it cost if I become a client?+
